Marine from NJ killed in Afghanistan blast

CHERRY HILL, NJ Marine Lance Cpl. Jeremy Kane was 22.

Kane enlisted as a reservist on Sept. 11, 2006, during his first year at Rutgers University.

His grandfather had been a Marine and his father a solider. His mother, Melinda, says he felt it was his duty to serve his country.

Kane was planning to return to Rutgers to finish his senior year after his deployment was over.

His mother says her son called home from Afghanistan asking for chocolates and pens to hand out to children.
