Mayor Michael Bloomberg says the Obama administration understands his concerns about bringing the self-proclaimed 9/11 mastermind for a trial in New York City. The Obama administration faces growing opposition to the plan.

It is considering moving the proceedings elsewhere.

Bloomberg said Friday on his weekly radio show that he spoke with several "high level" people in the administration. He said he made his point that the trial would be expensive and disruptive to lower Manhattan.

Bloomberg said the administration understands and is "trying to do something."

The mayor began speaking out this week against holding the trial in New York City. He initially had supported the federal government's decision.
