Fire tears through row of houses in Queens

A third-alarm fire tore through a row home in the South Jamaica section of Queens and spread to two others. The fire broke out in the house on 154th Street just after 8:15 a.m. Friday.

Firefighters climbed through windows of the neighboring house to find residents. Four people were treated for non-life threatening injuries, including two who were burned.

They were taken to nearby hospitals. Nine residents were left homeless by the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
