Paterson apartment building fire displaces 20

PATERSON The blaze broke out just before 10 a.m. Saturday at a three-story building in Paterson, then later spread to a neighboring structure. Forty firefighters then battled the fire, which was brought under control in about 40 minutes.

Deputy Fire Chief Joseph Murray said the only injury was to a 7-year-old girl, who was treated at the scene for a minor cut to her hand.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Red Cross staffers were assisting the 12 adults and eight children displaced by the fire.
