Celebrating the Lunar New Year in Chinatown

It's officially the year of the tiger, according to the Asian lunar calendar. In Manhattan, crowds of people flocked to Chinatown to welcome in the new year.

Musicians and dancers brushed off the cold and thrilled crowds of people who packed the street to celebrate.

Overseas in Hong Kong, a parade complete with Chinese dragons, drums and fireworks wound its way through the Kowloon district, dazzling the tens of thousands of spectators.

Yhe year of the tiger, which is the third cycle in the 12 cycle lunar calendar, was last celebrated in 1998.
