A stranger found the puppy held for ransom tied to a bush in Prospect Park on Tuesday.

The mixed French bulldog/basset hound named Sugar ran off during the snow storm last week. Soon after, the owner got a call demanding cash for the dog.

"I was surprised when he said, "What are you going to give me for your dog?" said Drucie Belman. "How much are you going to give me?" She offered the man $50, but the man hung up.

She believes the same man called back and said "Good luck finding your dog." She never heard from him again.

Belman told Eyewitness News that she received another call on Tuesday morning from man who said Sugar was tied to a bush in the park.

The family thought it might be a hoax, but, much to their relief, they ran down the street to find their dog tied to the bush.

Belman said the Good Samaritan had been walking a bull dog in the park. The bull dog bit Sugar's paw, Belman said.

She immediately took the dog to the vet to get checked out.

Sugar is doing just fine, and she is back home.

The Belman family adopted her from a shelter in Hong Kong before moving to Brooklyn.
