Cops: LI dad overdosed on heroin with kids home

SHIRLEY Police responded to the home at approximately 4:15 p.m. on Sunday and discovered 30-year-old Thomas Koch unconscious with his two children, ages 9 and 5, in the home. A hypodermic needle and other residue-laden drug paraphernalia were also found in plain view and accessible to the children, according to police.

Koch was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue for treatment.

He was then arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and possession of a hypodermic needle.

He was released from the hospital and transported to the Seventh Precinct, where he was held overnight for his arraignment.
