Deadly Brooklyn fire labeled supicious

OCEAN HIILL The fire reportedly broke out in the front of the apartment building, on Decatur Street, just before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Firefighters fought through heavy smoke and flame to pull residents from a second-floor apartment.

Eyewitness News is told three residents were pulled from the building, all with life-threatening injuries.

Officials say a 35-year-old man was pronounced dead at Interfaith Medical Center. An 81-year-old man and 40-year-old woman were also hospitalized in critical condition.

A 14-year-old boy was being questioned by investigators looking into the fire, which they said appeared suspicious.

The boy reportedly told them he saw an unknown person run out of a second-floor apartment at the time of the fire. Investigators were looking into his story.

Fire marshals are investigating the cause of the blaze.
