About 500 people were stranded on a train for more than five hours Saturday night in central New Jersey because of flooding from a powerful rainstorm.
NJ Transit spokeswoman Penny Bassett Hackett says the train was stuck on the track west of the Rahway station along the Northeast Corridor in a spot where emergency workers were unable to reach them.
She says police finally boarded the train around 10:00 p.m.
