2 people killed in Fort Lee fire

FORT LEE, NJ Fort Lee Police Chief Thomas Ripoli said 52-year-old Eliot C. Nisenbaum and 55-year-old Ronald Sandberg were found Saturday night in the second-floor master bedroom of their unit in the Kensington Park complex.

Firefighters responded to the home around 11:45 p.m., breaking down the door to gain entry. They soon found and attempted to resuscitate the victims, who were pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Officials say there was heavy smoke damage throughout the home, but most of the damage was concentrated in the kitchen. They say the four-alarm fire appears to be accidental, starting above the gas stove in the kitchen.
