Of the 579 inspected, the department hit 87 homes with 275 charges.
The charged homes face more than $230,000 in fines.
The majority of violations were issued for pricing deception.
Charges included failing to have retail prices visible and failing to provide prices over the phone.
Funeral homes were also found to be illegally displaying the cheapest caskets separately and more unpleasantly than the expensive options.
Another common violation was not disclosing that consumers may find a casket on their own.
