Police are investigating the death of an alleged robbery suspect."He was the love of my life and he was a beautiful person," said Michelle Wint.

The girlfriend of 39-year-old Gilroy Davis can't imagine what led up to his violent death. Davis is accused of robbing a nightclub, Clippers 2 in Rosedale, on Monday.

His family says Davis wouldn't rob anyone. They insist that he was a party promoter who went here for business until someone else was robbing the club.

Police now confirm there is surveillance video from the club, and it's being used in the investigation.

Police also say that two other men have been arrested and charged with felony assault on Davis.

Davis' family tells Eyewitness News that the surveillance video shows people beating him until police arrived.

When police arrived at the club, they did arrest Davis and took him to the 105th precinct.

Several hours later, he was complaining of chest pains and taken to a hospital, where he died.

Police now say they're still trying to figure out who committed the robbery and they're looking for another man who fled with thousands of dollars.

Meanwhile, Davis' family wants to clear his name.

"It's very sad because it's my brother and just for him to die like that, it's very hard," said Jerome Davis, the suspect's brother.

The exact cause of his death is still under investigation.
