SUV strikes girls outside NJ drug store

TENAFLY, N.J. The accident happened outside of a CVS store at 17 Washington Avenue around 4:30 p.m.

Police said the SUV jumped a curb and hit the girls, who were on the sidewalk outside the store.

Witnesses say the driver, whose name was not released, appeared to lose control of the vehicle as she tried to back into a curbside parking space.

Officials said the girls were taken to Hackensack University Hospital.

Authorities said the girls, who are believed to be seventh graders, suffered moderate but not life-threatening injuries. Their names have not been released.

The driver was taken to Englewood Hospital and Medical Center for observation, and did not appear to be seriously injured.

So far, no charges have been filed.
