Police shoot Bronx man, say he wouldn't drop knives

LONGWOOD Investigators say the 30-year old man was threatening his neighbors at the Robert Moore housing development in the Longwood section.

According to police, the man refused orders to drop the two large knives. He was shot in the arm and torso when he advanced toward one of the officers responding to the 911 call.

The confrontation happened shortly after 9:00 p.m. Friday night on the 18th floor of 694 East 149 Street.

One knife had a 7" blade and a 5" handle, the second knife has a 6" blade and a 5" handle.

The suspect is recovering at Lincoln Hospital in stable condition.

The name of the officer and the suspect were not immediately released.
