An NYPD officer is recovering after being struck by a car along the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway early Sunday. The officer was rushed to Bellevue Hospital around 5 a.m. with two broken legs.

Investigators say he had stepped out his vehicle during a DWI stop in Greenpoint when he was hit by a second driver who was also allegedly drunk. The driver had swerved to miss the patrol car, collided with a taxi and spun into the officer.

Police say both drivers failed breathalyzer tests and will be charged with driving while intoxicated.
