A man shot multiple times was being rushed to the hospital by a friend when their car crashed at the foot of LaGuardia Airport in Queens. Police say the 23-year-old man was shot in front of 19-26 Steinway Street just after 2:30 a.m.

He was shot multiple times apparently during a dispute with another man.

A friend of the shot man scooped him up, put him in his car and began to race him to the hospital.

But, authorities say, the friend then crashed his car at Ditmars Boulevard at the Grand Central Parkway, at the foot of LaGuardia Airport.

The shot man stumbled out of the crashed car and collapsed onto the ground, police say.

EMS workers rushed to the scene and took him to Elmhurst Hospital, where he is listed in serious but stable condition.

The suspected gunman fled in a 2007 Nissan Maxima.

Police were investigating what led to the shooting.
