The case grabbed headlines in February 2008 when a livery cab driver left the baby, Daniella, at a Queens firehouse.
The driver initially was praised as a hero after telling authorities she had been abandoned in his cab. Police later revealed his girlfriend was the baby's aunt. Investigators concluded that he made up the tale and was helping her family get rid of the baby.
Police say Cardenas recently resurfaced in New York.
