DWI charge in deadly Orange County crash

A van driver was charged with DWI when his packed van bound for New York City crashed in Orange County, killing a woman.

Police in Orange County charged a van driver with driving while intoxicated after his packed van rolled over, killing a woman.15 passengers were riding from Newburgh to New York City early Sunday morning when the van hit a wall and rolled over on Route 9W in Highlands.

The driver was identified as 51-year old Luis Vargas of the Bronx.

The passengers suffered various injuries and were treated at the hospital.

22-year old Penelope Veras of Manhattan was killed.
