UNION VALE, N.Y. --
Authorities say a 70-year-old Greenwich, Conn. man was seriously injured when his single-engine plane crashed shortly after taking off from an airport in upstate New York. The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office says the pilot, Victor Romley, was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center. His condition was not immediately known.
Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Arlene Salac said the pilot was the only person aboard when the plane crashed just before 3 p.m. Sunday after taking off from Sky Acres Airport in Union Vale, N.Y.
Salac said there were no injuries on the ground. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
