Tensions are rising among the 30,000 doormen and other New York City apartment building workers.

They are threatening to wall off the job next week.

Hundreds of them rallied on the Upper East Side Tuesday afternoon, demanding higher pay and better health care benefits.

Building owners want workers to contribute to health care premiums.

The contract deadline is next Tuesday.

Thirty-two hundred apartment buildings would be affected by a walk out.
