Apparent dispute ends in deadly gunfire

BROOKLYN

The shooting happened on the 19-hundred block of Fulton Street at 1:15 p.m. in the Ocean Hill section of Brooklyn.

Three men were shot, one of them dead. At least two men were taken into police custody.

Police removed one man from a tire shop next door to this barber shop, where the owner was killed.

What remains unclear is why. Eric Johnston, a friend of the barber shop owner, saw him right before he was murdered. "And I actually slapped fives with him before i left and now i turn around and get a phone call that he was the one shot out here. So I'm shocked right now," Johnston said. Some witnesses said the men had been arguing.

We ran into another man who knows all of those involved, and so we asked him about reports that the two shop owners were feuding.

"I don't even know why this happened," Lyte said, adding he did not know of any argument between them.

As police try to figure out what happened, the brother of one of the victims arrived too distraught to speak with reporters.

Residents hope for answers on a block which they say has certainly seen its fair share of violent crime.

"It's horrible especially in a school zone with kids around here and stuff," Anna Fuentes said.
