Police say the unidentified victim suffered gunshot wounds to the leg and torso.
He was taken to UMDNJ, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The other shooting happened just before 11 p.m. Monday.
The city's new gunshot detection system alerted police to the shooting at 132 Badger Avenue, where police found a 30-year-old man suffering a gunshot wound to the torso.
The victim was transported to UMDNJ in stable condition.
