Yonkers man charged in 3 cold case killings

YONKERS Francisco Acevedo pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Wednesday. He was charged with murder in the deaths of the women in 1989, 1991 and 1996. His defense attorney did not immediately return a call for comment. Two of the victims had arrest records in New York City for prostitution.

Acevedo, who is currently serving one to three years in prison for a DWI conviction, was remanded without bail.

A spokesman for the district attorney said a DNA match led to the charges against Acevedo. He did not elaborate.
