A second-alarm fire tore through an Upper East Side townhouse Thursday morning, leaving a family of six homeless. The blaze apparently broke out inside the brownstone at 12 East 80th Street just before 4 a.m.

Flames quickly spread through the upper floors, shooting out the windows.

Officials say a family of six, including children, escaped the flames and are now staying with relatives.

Three firefighters were treated for minor injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The townhouse dates back to 1899.
