Cops not amused by man's 'kids for sale' joke

BROCKPORT, N.Y. Troopers say someone notified Monroe County Child Protective Services in Rochester that an offer of children for sale had been posted on the classified advertising website.

They say an investigation of the April 7 posting led to 24-year-old Joshua Stagnitto of Brockport, 15 miles west of Rochester. He was arrested Thursday and charged with a misdemeanor count of falsely reporting an incident.

An investigator says Friday that Stagnitto claimed the listing was a joke. The children, boys ages 1 and 2, remain in their parents' custody.

Police don't know if Stagnitto has a lawyer. There is no phone number listed for him in Brockport.
