A fight during the first night of UConn's Spring Weekend has left a 20-year-old student critically injured. UConn police say Jafar Karzoun was found unconscious after a fight near a pizza restaurant on campus just after 1:15 a.m.

Friday. He was flown by helicopter to Hartford Hospital.

A 19-year-old Hartford man, Edi Rapo, was charged with assault, breach of peace and forgery because he was carrying a fake I.D.

Police say Rapo is not a UConn student.

State and University of Connecticut police say 17 people were arrested during the first of three nights of parties that are not sanctioned by the school, but are a tradition before final exams.

Police made almost 90 arrests last year during Spring Weekend.
