Police say the third and final night of the University of Connecticut's annual Spring Weekend celebration brought 37 arrests. Connecticut State Police Lt. J. Paul Vance says the annual event was calmer this year than in some previous years, with the exception of an incident in which a student was critically injured when another man punched him.

The student, Jafar Karzoun, remained hospitalized Sunday at Hartford Hospital. Nineteen-year-old Edi Rapo of East Hartford faces charges related to the fight, including second-degree assault.

In addition to the 37 Spring Weekend arrests overnight Saturday into Sunday, police reported 39 other arrests earlier in the weekend.

Most were for drug or alcohol possession, breach of peace and other offenses.
