Hofstra's new hoops coach charged with DWI

LONG ISLAND Police say Tim Welsh was stopped at a steady green light at the intersection of Hempstead Turnpike and N. Bellmore after 1 a.m. Friday.

Welsh with be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead.

The University released the following statement.
"We have learned through media reports of the charges against Mr. Welsh. Effective immediately, he has been suspended without pay, while the University investigates the charges against him."
