Jurors got to see a machete allegedly used in a brutal attack that left three friends dead in a New Jersey schoolyard. The prosecution showed the weapon Tuesday during the testimony of a former detective who oversaw the crime scene unit in Newark on the night of Aug. 4, 2007 slayings.

The three friends were shot execution-style and a fourth survived and testified last week. Prosecutors say at least two of the victims were slashed with a machete. The survivor is not being identified by The Associated Press because of sexual assault charges against two of the defendants.

Rodolfo Godinez is the first of six defendants charged in the killings to stand trial.

Jurors also saw photos of the victims taken at the crime scene.
