Burglars target affluent homes in Greenburgh

GREENBURGH

A ring of thieves is targeting affluent sections of Greenburgh.

Police have warned homeowners to be extra vigilant and on the lookout for a well-dressed male-female team posing as a couple.

Since late march there have been at least three break-ins in the Edgemont section of Greenburgh, near Scarsdale.

Police say the burglars are part of a larger ring working throughout the east coast.

The suspects drive in luxury cars or SUVs to help blend into the neighborhood. They force in doors or ground floor windows.

Police say the group particularly targets homes owned by families of Asian or Middle Eastern descent.

Police advise homeowners to keep their doors and windows locked, but also to rethink where to store valuables like jewelry.
