Deadly gunfire in the Bronx

BRONX A Bronx family's grief overflowed this Mother's Day as they are stunned at the loss of 15-year-old Marvin Wiggins.

Police say the victim was gunned down after a party evolved into a fight that went way out of hand.

The gunfire at 1776 Weeks Avenue, claimed the lives of Wiggins and a 16-year-old girl. A third victim, a 20-year-old woman, took a bullet to the arm.

Eyewitnesses say the 15-year-old boy who was killed, actually died when he jumped in front of a woman who might have been on the receiving end of one of those bullets.

Police spent all morning processing the scene and talking to witnesses.

Meanwhile, despite today's sudden cold snap, community activist Sidney Flores says he fears violent crime will rise, as the weather improves and summer gets underway.

For now, a family grieves as their hearts broken on Mother's Day.
