Children injured when bus slams on brakes

UPPER EAST SIDE The incident took place on Second Avenue and East 63rd Street.

Some two dozen children and their teachers were checked out. At least three students were put in neck braces and two were removed on gurneys. Other children were walking to another bus to be taken to another location. The kids were on a field trip from East New York to Lincoln Center.

The New York Police Department said a car apparently cut off the bus, but the vehicles did not collide.

Department of Education spokeswoman Marjorie Feinberg had initially described the accident as a "fender bender."

No charges are expected to be filed.
