Dozens of vehicles sustained damage from vandals in several Long Island communities.

Most of the incidents happened between 11:00 Saturday night and 5:00 Sunday morning in Merrick, Bellmore and Wantagh.

Similar acts of vandalism were reported in North Bellmore and North Merrick.

Windows, windshields and side-view mirrors were smashed on the vehicles with a blunt object.

Residents are stunned and angry by the damage.

"It's very upsetting. My car just came out of the shop on Friday. The last thing that I want to do is have it repaired again, so I hope they catch the people that did it," Carol Brennan said.

"I was horrified. You don't expect it in this neighborhood," said Liz Nasta, who's back window was smashed.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
