6th teen admits role in LI hate crime stabbing

LONG ISLAND Overton admitted in Suffolk County Court in Riverhead on Tuesday that he was with a mob that had targeted Hispanics for violence.

Overton pleaded guilty to gang assault, conspiracy and attempted assault as a hate crime.

The victim, Marcelo Lucero, and a friend were attacked in November 2008.

Jeffrey Conroy was convicted last month of manslaughter after prosecutors said he inflicted the fatal blow. Conroy testified Overton was the one who stabbed Lucero, but jurors said later they never believed that story.

Overton is also awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to burglary in unrelated attack in 2007 that left a homeowner dead.
