Arrests in stabbing in Hempstead over the summer

HEMPSTEAD

According to a Nassau County Police Department news release, around 6:15 p.m. June 21., Uriel Whyte, 27, of Hempstead and his brother, Raphael Whyte, 28, of Coram, spotted the victim with whom they had an ongoing dispute.

They got out of the car, the release said, and chased the victim on Patterson Avenue. The two are accused of stabbing the 19-year-old victim in the arm and chest, then fleeing in their car. The victim was transported to Nassau University Medical Center where he was treated for a collapsed lung and several stab wounds.

Raphael Whyte was arrested Friday, after first attempting to elude police. He is charged with second-degree attempted murder in the incident.
