The authority says its goal was to improve clarity to a complex subway system. The new version does away with the service guide and a list of handicapped-accessible stations. Wheelchair symbols will continue to mark those stops.
The redesign reflects the reductions in subway service slated to go into effect in late June.
The map also encourages riders to go to its website for weekend and updated service changes.
The authority said the map strikes the right balance between information and graphic clarity.
