Arrests in case of missing N. Bergen man

ATLANTIC CITY

This time the career criminal with a history of theft may face even more serious charges.

Police swooped down on a Pleasantville, New Jersey motel Friday morning arresting Arno and a woman companion in connection with the kidnapping and carjacking and possible murder of 47-year old Martin Caballero of North Bergen. He is officially still missing.

Caballero was last seen outside the Trump Taj Mahal Resort in Atlantic City last Friday night right before a 22nd birthday celebration for his daughter Jessica. He had gone to park his car in the garage.

Caballero's car, a white Lincoln, was found hours later torched in Gloucester Township, Camden County. Arno had severe burns on his body when he was arrested, police said.

Caballero's step-son doesn't think authorities originally treated the disappearance seriously.

The family took it upon themselves to pass out missing flyers outside the Taj hotel.

A couple of days ago police released surveillance video from an ATM in Egg Harbor township showing a man they say is Arno, withdrawing cash with Caballero's card.

Authorities continue to search for Caballero, and more family members left North Bergen Friday afternoon to head to Atlantic City to help look for him too.
