Arrest made in deadly Elizabeth shootings

ELIZABETH, N.J. Union County Prosecutor Theodore Romankow said Armando Perez, a 24-year-old Elizabeth resident, was arrested without incident early Sunday at a Roselle home.

He's charged with two counts of murder and weapons offenses in the deaths of 30-year-old Luis Mesa and 27-year-old Daniel Torres.

The two Elizabeth men were shot early Saturday outside the El Buen Gusto bar in Elizabeth and pronounced dead at the scene.

Romankow said a motive for the shooting has not been determined, saying evidence and witness statements led authorities to Perez.

It was not known Sunday whether Perez had retained a lawyer.
