The accident happened around midnight involving the SUV and a low riding three wheel vehicle known as a T-Rex. That vehicle has two wheels in the front, and one in the back.
The driver of the T-Rex was killed. The driver of the SUV escaped the vehicle and fled on foot.
Police continue to look for the driver of the SUV.
The City Island Bridge was closed for hours. A friend of the victim was driving behind him when the accident happened.
"I just saw my boy go into the car, I stopped, pulled him out, it was awful. I tried to revive him and that was it," said the friend.
The victim is said to be in his 30s and has a family.
