Police say a body found floating in a Connecticut pond over the weekend was that of a 17-year-old Newtown High School honors student who was going to graduate in a few weeks.

Authorities say Danielle Jacobsen's body was found in a pond off Northbrook Drive in Monroe Sunday morning, after she failed to return home from a late-night party. Police are still trying to determine how she died, and an autopsy is planned.

Police say she was last seen at a home in the Northbrook Drive area.

Officials at Newtown High School say a moment of silence for Jacobsen is set for 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, and grief counselors will be on hand.

School officials call her death shocking and sad, and students were offering prayers on social networking websites.
