The Hudson County Prosecutor's office believes Acosta is the man seen in security camera footage, near a silver car outside the 4th St. apartment where 48-year-old Angel Torres and 49-year-old Lazaro Calero were murdered sometime between April 1 and 5.
Prosecutors were trying to crack down on who was the person in the video for weeks.
"Based on what we saw in that video, we were interested in that car," Edward DeFazio, Hudson County Prosecutor, said.
In the video, a man, suspected to be Acosta, takes several bags to the silver Saturn.
The connection? The victim's bodies were discovered in garbage and laundry bags dumped in Linden April 5.
The neighborhood has maintained a memorial for Torres as they wait for answers in the case.
Detectives spotted the Saturn in Union City Wednesday. According to DeFazio, Acosta had handcuffs, $6,000 and a stolen 9mm gun.
Although police believe the video shows him removing the bodies, detectives cannot tie him to the actual murders yet, but they're looking for a motive.
