New York landlords may soon be required to brief potential tenants of bedbug infestation problems.

A bill for the requirement advanced through the state assembly housing committee.

The law does not apply to those looking to buy an apartment.

According to New York Magazine, the number of bedbug complaints in New York City has climbed from 537 in 2004 to almost 11,000 in 2009.
