A dog escaped from the cargo area of a Continental flight at LaGuardia and swam around Flushing Bay before being caught.

The dog, a rare breed Perro de Presa Canario, is a show dog and flew from Houston to New York, according to the owners.

According to police, some time during the flight, the dog managed to bite her way out of the cage. When the cargo door was opened, the dog bolted.

The dog ran around the runway for a little bit before jumping into Flushing Bay.

The owner says the dog is a very good swimmer.
