Horses halt traffic on the LIE in Riverhead

There was a raucous roundup on the Long Island Expressway Tuesday after seven horses got loose and ran into traffic.

The horses escaped a farm in Calverton and ended up in traffic on the LIE near exit 73 in Riverhead.

The horses tied up traffic for nearly an hour.

Several drivers pulled over to help steer them off the road or into the median.

One horse was hurt after getting spooked and trying to jump over a guardrail.

It's not clear how the horses escaped the farm.
