Oquan Blake, 24, of Newark is wanted in connection with the death of Dalaysia Rhymer. She is the daughter of a woman Blake dated.
The mother left the child in Blake's care. When she returned home, police said the baby was unresponsive. She called 911 and the child was rushed to University Hospital last Saturday and put on life support. The baby died on Monday.
An autopsy determined the death was a homicide.
When the child arrived at the hospital she had a fractured skull, a ruptured spleen, broken ribs, bruising to the spine and a lacerated liver. She had also been sexually assaulted.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Blake.
Bail has been set at $2 million when Blake is apprehended.
