A 10-month-old boy who was in a car that police say was stolen from a gas station in New Haven has been found safe.

The child was reportedly found in the car Sunday morning and taken to the Hospital of Saint Raphael where he was reunited with his mother Nyela Mateo, the victim of the carjacking. Police said she was dragged by the car as she tried to stop it.

The suspect was still being sought Sunday morning.

Police called off an Amber Alert after finding the car and child not far from the gas station where authorities say the car was taken at about 7 a.m. Sunday.

A nursing supervisor at the hospital says Mateo is in stable condition.
