Dodd to tour storm damage in Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn.

Dodd and Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch will tour the damaged areas on Monday and later meet with reporters.

The National Weather Service says the 100-yard-wide tornado on June 24 packed 100 mph winds and traveled less than a quarter mile.

It collapsed several buildings, damaged others, tore off roofs and knocked down trees and power lines.

City officials say it's remarkable no one died and there were few injuries.

Dodd and his wife Jackie Clegg Dodd are also scheduled to attend a celebration at the Barnum Museum's commemoration of the 200th anniversary of P.T. Barnum's birthday. Parts of the museum suffered some damage from the storm.
