Heated meeting over MTA layoffs

Dozens of frustrated MTA workers and angry subway riders walked out of a heated court-ordered meeting Tuesday night.

The hearing at Cooper Union in the East Village was one of several meetings focused on the MTA's plan to layoff more than 200 token booth and station agents.

Transit workers say the agency should use federal stimulus money to avoid the cuts.

But, the MTA says that money is already being used for capital projects that are creating jobs.

Two more meetings are set for Wednesday night, one in the Bronx, and the other in Brooklyn.
