Alcohol now available on Wildwood boardwalk

WILDWOOD, N.J.

Capt'n Jacks Island Grill on Friday became the first establishment to ever serve alcohol on the seaside city's famous Boardwalk, which dates to the 1890s.

City officials adopted an ordinance in June that allows for three liquor licenses on the Boardwalk. It stops the serving of alcohol at midnight and consumption at 12:30 a.m., and limits music to background levels so it's not heard on the Boardwalk.

The ordinance also limits the licenses to full-service restaurants with a minimum of 100 seats and doesn't allow a sit-down bar.
