Wakes Tuesday in Staten Island murder suicide

STATEN ISLAND

Five white caskets filled the Brooklyn funeral home on Tuesday.

Only one was open - that of a 2-year-old boy.

In another casket was 32-year-old Leisa Jones. Police say she slit the throats of three of her children and sat with them and her toddler in their burning Staten Island home until she died of smoke inhalation nearly two weeks ago. The toddler died later at a hospital.

Tuesday's services attracted mostly family members but also some teachers from the public school the children attended.

A funeral is planned for Thursday in Washington, D.C.
